TOMMY D. BEHRENDSEN

Tommy D. Behrendsen of Woodland, Washington, died on February 2, 2000, due to complications resulting from lung cancer.

Tommy was born on February 28, 1945, in Fort Dodge and attended the Rolfe Community Schools until 1956 when he and his family moved to the state of Washington. He then attended schools in Vancouver, Washington, and graduated from Woodland High School in Woodland, Washington, in 1963. He was president of his senior class, active in sports and F.F.A.

Tommy continued his education at Clark Community College in Vancouver and Long Beach Jr. College in Huntington Beach, California. After two years of college, he enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserves. Tommy worked in construction, operating heavy equipment until two months before his death.

Tommy left two sons, Rob and Cory; three grandchildren; his parents, Clyde and Edna Behrendsen; one sister, Janet  Behrendsen Wilson; and one brother, Randy Behrendsen.

According to Janet, "Tommy  was a good brother and son and is very much missed by all his family and friends. He was very well liked, and the attendance at his memorial service verified that. The church was filled to overflowing, and people filled the social hall and stood outside. My Mom and Dad and Randy and I were overwhelmed by the wonderful outpouring of sympathy from soooooo many people."
