ALVIN N. CHRISTENSEN

GILMORE CITY — Alvin N. Christensen passed away Oct. 2, 2006. Alvin was born March 8, 1930 on Linden Row Farm in Lake Township, Gilmore City, where he resided his entire lifetime.

His parents were Emma (Graaf) and Niels C. Christensen.

On Sept. 10, 1950 Alvin and Roselyn (Brock) were married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rolfe, Iowa.

Alvin was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City. He served on the Church Council, was a substitute Sunday School teacher, and sang in choir during his youth. He was a member of the Gilmore City American Legion.

He was Lake Township Clerk and Secretary of the Rural Fire Department for many years. Alvin was a Rolfe Community School Board member and a supporter of the school.

Alvin served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, 1951 through 1953. He was stationed at Camp Pendelton, Calif., where Roselyn also worked on the Base in Industrial Relations.

Alvin is survived by his wife Roselyn; son Douglas (Cynthia); daughter Michelle (Kyle) Bissell; and son Michael (Lori). Alvin’s second son, Martin, preceded him in death in 1963. Grandchildren are Ashley Christensen, Branden Bissell, Shannen Bissell, Eric Christensen and Rachel Christensen. His sister, Helen Dornath; sisters-in-law Sophia Christensen, Evelyn Leadley, Lucille Keeble; and many beloved nieces and nephews completed his family.

Preceding his in death were his parents, Emma and Niels Christensen; brother Harold Christensen; brother-in-law John Dornath; and niece Marian Dornath.

Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Gilmore City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Harris Funeral Home in Gilmore City.
