M. MARGUERITTE DIEDERICH

Pocahontas -- Margueritte Diederich, age 91, died on June 17, 2007, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital at Pocahontas. Memorial services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at the Powers Funeral Home In Rolfe, with the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Interment was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe.

Mable Margueritte Witt was born on February 28, 1916, at Gilmore City, the daughter of John and Mable (Bendixen) Witt. Margueritte was educated in Rolfe area schools and attended Rolfe High School. In the mid-1930's, she married Harlan Markley. The couple made their home in Havelock. Margueritte later married George Diederich. She and George made their home in Rolfe. Margueritte worked at Beckord's Hatchery, and later she graded eggs for Joe Lehman Produce.

Margueritte attended the Shared Ministry, formerly the United Presbyterian Church. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

She is survived by her son, Glenn Markley of Frederick, Md.; daughter, Inez (Jimmy) Busby of Houma, La.; grandchildren, Kristine (John) Bristow, John (Debbie) Busby and Shannon (Michelle) Busby; great-grandchildren, Catherine and Elizabeth Bristow, Joshua and Nicole Busby, and Nickolas Busby; brother, Roger (Alice) Witt of Rolfe; and sisters, Blanche Gardewine of Gilmore City and Edna Humphreys of Fort Dodge.

Margueritte was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Irene Tool.
