REV. DAVID J. HOGAN

Rev. David J. Hogan, 77, of Sioux City and formerly of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at the Holy Spirit Center Nursing Home in Sioux City.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2006, at 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 PM and a vigil for the deceased at 7:00 PM at Corpus Christi Church.

Survivors include his stepmother Irene Hogan of Fort Dodge, brothers- Joseph Hogan of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Hogan of Coto deCaza, CA, and a sister Patricia Steiner of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Dorothy Flynn Hogan and a brother Austin Hogan Jr.

Rev. David J. Hogan was born on April 15, 1929 in Fort Dodge. He attended Corpus Christi grade school, the Loras Academy in Dubuque and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1945. He continued his education at Fort Dodge Junior College and received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN. From 1951 to 1955 he attended the Immaculate Conception Seminary, Conception, MO. He was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Joseph M. Mueller at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City on June 4, 1955. Rev. Hogan served at St. Mary’s, Remsen, Sacred Heart Hospital, LeMars, St. Joseph’s, Granville, Faculty at Gehlen High School and St. James, LeMars, St. Margaret’s, Rolfe and the faculty of Pocahontas Catholic High School, St. Joseph’s, Bode, St. Mary’s, Alton, Nativity, Sioux City, Resurrection of Our Lord, Pocahontas and St. Mary’s, Danbury until his retirement in 2000.
