ALICE S. MORTENSEN

CEDAR FALLS — Alice S. Mortensen, 95, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 22, 2005 at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct. 25, 1910, in Cedar Falls, daughter of P. John and Edith Wolff Petersen. She married Ralph O. Mortensen on Aug. 25, 1937, in Cedar Falls. He died Dec. 21, 2003.

Alice graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and was an elementary teacher for many years.

Survivors include a son, Ivan (Larisa Ibragimova) of Springlake, Mich.; a daughter, Patricia Bailey of Des Moines; seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and five step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: a son, John; and a brother, Rodney Petersen.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church.

Editor's note: Alice and Ralph Mortensen lived in Rolfe from 1948-1959. She was an elementary school teacher, and he was the superintendent of the Rolfe school district. Their children include John, who graduated from Rolfe High School in 1957; Ivan, who graduated from RHS in 1958; and Patti, who was several years younger than her brothers. Patti moved from Rolfe with her parents when Ralph became the superintendent of North Polk Schools at Alleman, where he retired.
