JACK SINDERGARD

Jack Sindergard , age 83, died on January 27, 2000, at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Funeral services were held on January 31, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rolfe. Burial was in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery at Rolfe.

John Francis "Jack" Sindergard was born on December 6, 1916, at Cummings. He was the son of Ole and Lottie (Cassidy) Sindergard. Jack was educated in Minnesota country schools. At a young age, his family moved to the Gilmore City-Pioneer area. On August 12, 1939, Jack married Pearl Nelson at Rolfe. The couple farmed south of Rolfe until 1941, when they moved to their farm near Plover. In 1972, they moved into Rolfe. Jack retired from farming in 1981.

Jack was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizens. He enjoyed training horses and mini-mules in his spare time, and showed the mini-mules in many competitions and parades.

Survivors include his wife: Pearl Sindergard of Rolfe; children: Darrel (Cheryl) Sindergard of Plover, Joyce Smith of Clarion and Curt (DeAnn) Sindergard of Rolfe; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Sharon Sindergard of Des Moines and Judy (John) Lubinus of Pocahontas; sister Carmen Lansing of Indianola; half-sister Bernice Sterns of Albert Lea, MN; and step-sister Sylvia Andersen of Des Moines.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Darwin and Kenneth, step-mother Mary Sindergard, and half-sister Ila Mae Johnson.
