STANLEY K. WHITMORE

Rolfe — Stanley K. Whitmore, 80, died on February 17, 2005, at Pocahontas.

Services were held on Monday, February 21, 2005, 2 p.m., at Shared Ministry in Rolfe. Rev. Charles Miller was the officiant. Burial was in the Clinton-Garfield Cemetery in Rolfe.

Stanley Knight Whitmore was born on February 19, 1925, at Havelock. He was the son of Stewart and Grace (Knight) Whitmore. Stan was educated at Havelock and several western states, finishing in Fenton School. He served In the U.S. Navy during World War II, on a troop transport in the Pacific Theatre.

On November 28, 1946, Stan married Donna Stiles at Laurens. The couple made their home in Ruthven until 1947, when they moved to Rolfe. Stan was engaged in farming and several other occupations.

Stan was an over 50-year member and past commander of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church, now the Shared Ministry in Rolfe and the Masonic Lodge and the farmers degree team. In his spare time, Stan enjoyed fishing and showing horses in many horse shows with his daughter, Pat.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; daughters, Pat (Henry) Olerich of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Marilyn (Al) Point of Belle Plain, Minn.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Kay Whitmore.
