JAMES EARL YOUNG

James (Jim) Earl Young, 62, a resident of 1819 Bryn Mawr Circle in Atlantic, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 17, 2001, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.

The son of Earl and Minnie Kline Young, James was born September 13, 1938, in Rolfe, Iowa, where he grew up, graduated from Rolfe High School in 1957, and served in the Iowa Air National Guard. In 1958 James was married to Donna Sandvig at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe, Iowa. He was an area manager for Alliant Energy for thirty-four years, working in Spirit Lake, Iowa Falls and Britt, Iowa, before moving to Atlantic in 1986. His first wife, Donna, passed away June 18, 1988. On March 16, 1991, he was united in marriage to Connie South at the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. He was also a member of Rotary Club and a recent Paul Harris Award recipient, Atlantic City Council member and was mayor pro tern in Atlantic. James retired October 21, 1996.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Young of Atlantic; two sons, Jeff Young and his wife, Becky, of Storm Lake and Monte Young and his wife, Julie, of Jasper, Indiana; one daughter, Sandy Kain and her husband, Jim, of Granada, Minnesota; three stepsons, Chris Kelly and his wife, Angela, of Lewis, Scott Kelly of Grimes and Chad Kelly and his wife, Linda, of Atlantic; eleven grandchildren, Lindsay and Jennifer Young, Shawn, JoAnn, Corey, and Katelyn Kelly, Erin and Margo Sill, Megan Shook, Ethan and Nicholas Kain; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Binns, Ryan and Raya O'Neal; one brother, John Young and his wife, Janice, of Rolfe; one sister, Ethel Pease and her husband, Sylvester, of Humboldt; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Minnie Young; his grandparents; and his first wife, Donna Young.
