I attended a meeting Sunday evening at the Rolfe Community Center,with a group of concerned citizens who like to save the Rolfe School Gym. It turns out the PCS School Board will be selling the Gym on 2/13/06 at 7:00pm. I would like to see the gym used for community purposes, such as a fitness and Rec. Center. The facility could also be rented out for events. The worst fear I have about the Rolfe Gym is that it end up like the school in Ware with junk cars, trucks, and tractors parked around it. I don't think any alumni would be happy with that. There were concerns about the costs of installing heating, maintenance, and utilities. I believe those could be addressed through fund raisers, and establishing an alumni foundation, where alumni could be benefactors as a legacy to the memory of their alma mater. The important thing is that the time to act is now. Rolfe residents and alumni need to contact the Rolfe City Council and PCS School board and let them know that they are supportive of saving the gym for public purposes. If people fail act, on 2/13/06 the chance will be gone. Mike DeWolf Class of 1980 Rolfe High School
